I feel it is in my best interest that I create a magazine for my project. I have an excellent idea for a social activist magazine that I feel I could be particularly creative with, and am very confident in my photography and writing skills.
I plan to work alone on this project as almost no one I have spoken with is willing to join me in this endeavor, and I am perfectly fine with that. This type of magazine is not everyone's cup of tea, and I am quite surprised that this is the first thing that came to my mind. Nonetheless, I am excited to begin the process and hope that it will turn out as wonderful as I have it in my head.
I have always been rather curious and opinionated when it comes to social activism, and follow it quite regularly on social media. I feel that with some further research I can produce both a creative and accurate magazine for this project. My ideas will need extensive approval as a number of social issues I have thought of are quite sensitive, but I hope that my instructors will see the idea that I have and grant me permission to go forward. If not, there are a number of other, less racy ideas I can make work. However, social activism tends to be an uncomfortable subject, and to truly feel the brunt force of it, one may have to push boundaries of comfort to get their idea across.
My main challenge will be finding a topic for the magazine that will be both school appropriate and still considered "social activism", however I do believe that with the right negotiation and promises, I can make it work. I know how to handle certain topics with the delicacy needed.

Project Selection - Film
Based on what we've seen from our media excerpts, producing a film would be quite a challenge for me. I am not as handy with moving pictures as I am with stills, and again my perfectionism plays a key issue. I do not think I would be able to handle as many setbacks that some movies have experienced. When we watched The Making of Ferris Bueller, I couldn't help but relate to John Hughes and his constant editing, rewriting, and directing styles during filming. I see myself getting very behind if I choose to work on making a film for my project. However, I do have an eye for film and camera shots, so I feel that if I were able to work on a film, it would be of quality material. The only question is if it would be done in time or not.

Project Selection - Magazine
There are numerous aspects of print journalism that we have covered so far in class. Personally, I love the hands-on experience of typing out articles and doing photo shoots for newspapers and magazines, so I'm most likely going to be producing a magazine. I love being able to be right in the middle of something huge that other people may or may not know about, like the Watergate scandal in All the President's Men. I love the thrill of finding out what the truth is and exposing it to the general public. I also am very confident when it comes to interviewing people and getting the answers I need, and am a very prolific and strong writer. I am able to meet a strict deadline and can work very well under pressure, as almost all of the movies and TV shows portrayed the journalism business as.
I believe the only thing that would make this project a challenge for me would be completing it on my own, which I intend to do for either the magazine or the film, and editing my photos to get them to the exact vision I have in my head. I am a perfectionist when it comes to projects such as this, and I can sense myself getting quite frustrated if something does not turn out in the exact way I imagined it. Nonetheless, I understand that not everything can be done perfectly, and know that I will be able to manage any setbacks or changes I may need to make.
